Is it Christmas time already?

Is it Christmas already? Man, I am just recovering financially from last Christmas!! My daughter has given me her list already. Between my parents and myself, she will probably get most of what she wants. Of course at the top of the list is an iPod! Hell, I want a dayum iPod myself. But she will probably get the cheaper, Creative Zen MP3 instead. It holds as many songs and it has a FM radio, so she will get over it.

Since this is our first Christmas in "our" house, she wants to put up Christmas lights outside the house. I haven't done this since I was a teenager and then it was with my dad making me do it. I guess it hasn't changed for me, only this time it is my kid "making" me do it. I usually love Christmas, but this year I am not feeling it. I am still devestated that my grandmother won't be here with us. Thanksgiving sucked for me because I was crying the whole day. She was supposed to be here with us. It didn't feel right. I guess I will have to get used to it being this way. It just seems like everything is so commercial now. I try to get my daughter to understand why we have Christmas but it is a moot point when there are presents involved.

I am hoping I can cope with this holiday season! Ay Dios!

Hola Chica! How are you doing, CD? I never posted on your blog though I know you. I've seen you on Shelley Halima's and Joanne's blog now and then. About the Christmas gift, I don't see what's so great about these gadgets but everyone else seems to go crazy over them. I have never been one who went for all this materialistic stuff. The simple things in life are what makes me happy. I read through your blog and I love your spirit. I see that you are on Chemo. You stay positive. I have someone close to me who is on it for the second time too. I don't know what you have and it isn't my business but I hope you are able to deal with it and I hope everything works out for you. You seem to be a kind person and probably deserve good things to come your way. I am feeling you about not enjoying things. I enjoyed Thanksgiving but lately I've been depressed. There's just too much going on in the world right now so I don't feel like celebrating anything either. I am happy because some good things are going on for me personally but overall it's hard to get into the spirit of the holidays. Feel free to visit my blog when you get the chance! Adios!

Hey girl,
Like Stacy, I have seen you around in the blogging world...so decided to pay you a visit! I'm going to check out the iPod you recommend, cause my 14yr old step-daughter wants one too. My two step-daughters always seem to get what they want too...man, kids are expensive! I'm sorry about your grandmother..I can relate because I miss mine extremely too. Feel free to visit my blog.
Cuidate chica.

I have the bigger, badder Creative Zen Touch (20GB). Let me tell you, you're doing your kid a favor by getting the Creative over the Ipod. The Ipod has a lot of hype, but the Creative has a higher user rating on CNET(the only place to consult when buying gadgets) and is a better device (battery wise, cost wise, functionally wise). Also, the IPod pretty much only works with Itunes and MP3, while the Creative players can handle MP3, RealAudio, and Windows media files (which are smaller than mp3 files(hence, your player will have more space and more songs to store)).

Good choice, Kim. :)

Priscilla: You have to go with inexpensive and functional. lol We parents have to protect our wallets!

Hey thanks Reese! I thought so too. I have run into the fact that it seems a lot more people have decided to go my way and they don't have any in the color that she wants. lol

Hmmm? You may want to try Ebuyer.com (make sure you switch over to the American site). That's where I got my Zen Touch and they were selling it the cheapest of any online store, anywhere. Don't buy it from E-bay as you'll probably be getting a refurbished player (no matter what they say, all electronics on E-bay are refurb).
